The host asked if I wanted matcha or kakigōri. Kakigōri is flavored shave ice, a Japanese snow cone. I reasoned, stupidly, that I had not come all the way to Ginza to eat a snow cone, so I asked for matcha.

Pretty Good Number One: An American Family Eats Tokyo (p. 13).

“On the counter, a sign lays out the only true rule of the kushikatsu: no double dipping. Drop your stick into the thick Worcestershire-like sauce once and be done with it.”

Matt Gouldingの旅行記、 “Rice, Noodle, Fish: Deep Travels Through Japan's Food Culture.”
