「仕事の腕が鈍る」を英語で？

Paul Krugmanのコラム"The Jobless Trap"の中に以下の一文がありました。

"This could happen because their work skills atrophy, but a more likely reason is that potential employers assume that something must be wrong with people who can’t find a job, even if the real reason is simply the terrible economy. "
「仕事の腕が鈍るから、これは起こりえる。しかし、潜在的な雇用者たちが仕事を見つけることができない人たちの何処かがおかしいに違いないときめつけていることが理由である場合が多い。たとえ、（仕事が見つからない）本当の理由は単純に景気が悪いだけだとしても」

OxfordDictionaryのサイトでは"atrophy"は以下のように説明されています。

gradually decline in effectiveness or vigour due to underuse or neglect
「使わない、もしくは放置によって次第に効率が低下する、あるいは気力が低下する」
