"be conversant with ..." = 「〜に通じている」

語源は、
from Old French, present participle of converser (see converse1). The original sense was ‘habitually spending time in a particular place or with a particular person’.
古いフランス語が語源とのことです。conversation(会話)と響きが似ています。
元々の意味は「習慣的に特定の場所で、または特定の人と時間を過ごす」となっています。
