"quicksilver"をググると以下のように説明されています。

"used in similes and metaphors to describe somethinng that moves or changes very quickly, or that is difficult to hold or contain"

「とても素早く動いたり変化するものの明喩や例えに使われる。または、持ったり保持するのが難しいもの」

"quicksilver"は「水銀」のことですが、変化しやすい水銀の性質のようなものの例えとして使われています。

イギリス版「吾輩は猫である」みたいな感じの本。猫の代わりに少年エイドリアンの目を通じてイギリス社会を皮肉な視点で描いています。
