「問い詰める」を英語で言ってみたい

"cross-question" = 「問い詰める」

ググると以下のように説明されています。

question (someonne) in great detail; cross-examinne.

「（誰かを）詳細に質問する、尋問」

日本語で意味を調べると「反対尋問」と最初に出てくるのですが、そういう意味もあるというだけで、どちらかというと「問い詰める、しつこく問いただす」と言ったニュアンスのほうが強いようです。Collins English DictionaryやLongmann Dictionary of Contemporary Ennglishのサイトなどでも同じように説明されています。 

一方、"cross-examination"はより裁判による法廷での「尋問」の意味合いが強く、英日サイトが説明しているニュアンスに近い気がします。
